supermarketWarning about Covid-19 transport of vegetables and fruits in the
In a grocery store and supermarket, an individual may pick up a piece or product that has been touched by another person, leaving room for doubt about the possibility of the transmission of the Coronavirus from the surface of fruits and vegetables or products to humans.
On this subject, Timothy Newsm, a specialist in virology at the University of Sydney, Australia, said, "Every surface we touch may pose a risk of infection, including food," according to Sky News.
Newsem pointed out that the groceries are considered a "low risk environment", as their workers wear gloves and masks, and are keen on clearing surfaces, but he called at the same time to follow ways to prevent disease and clean the vegetables and fruits that are bought well.
He continued: "The best way to follow when buying vegetables and fruits is to wash them with soap and water once they return home, calling for them not to be washed with water only.
He explained that it is important to be washed with warm soapy water, just as it happens when we clean our hands for 20 seconds to prevent ourselves from the virus.
Scientists also called for the necessity of wearing gloves when shopping in grocery stores, especially when touching items that people are rushing to buy, such as vegetables and fruits.
It is also important to wear masks, and maintain a sufficient distance between you and other buyers, not less than 1.5 meters.
